The Quality Public Housing Construction and Maintenance Awards 2007, co-organised by the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) and the construction and maintenance industry, are now open for nominations.
Deputy Director of Housing (Development and Construction) Ms Ada Fung said today (September 9) that the authority had forged a fruitful partnership with the construction industry. The event, held for the fifth consecutive year, recognises the outstanding performance over the past year of contractors, supervisors, workers and Housing Department (HD) staff in the construction and maintenance of public housing.
ˇ§The awards, a collaboration between numerous industry organisations, will facilitate experience sharing and serve as an impetus for practitioners to improve, and ultimately benefit the quality of public housing construction and maintenance,ˇ¨ Ms Fung said.
She encouraged members of the Estate Management Advisory Committees, public rental housing tenants, contractors / nominated sub-contractors and project supervisors to nominate outstanding workers of both new works and maintenance services / improvement projects, outstanding supervisors of maintenance services / improvement projects, outstanding HD customer service project teams, as well as outstanding Total Maintenance Scheme In-flat Inspection Ambassadors and workers.
The awards fall into two categories: ˇ§New Works Projectsˇ¨ and ˇ§Maintenance Services / Improvement Projectsˇ¨.
The five awards under the ˇ§New Works Projectsˇ¨ category are the Outstanding Contractor Award, Outstanding Project Award, Best Site Safety Record Award, Outstanding Worker Award and Active Involvement in Community Participation Award.
Another seven awards will be presented under the ˇ§Maintenance Services / Improvement Projectsˇ¨ category. They are: the Outstanding Contractor Award, Best Site Safety Record Award, Outstanding HD Customer Service Project Team Award, Outstanding HD Performance Verification Team Award, Outstanding Supervisor Award, Outstanding Worker Award and Outstanding Total Maintenance Scheme Awards.
Selection criteria include the teamsˇ¦ or individual candidatesˇ¦ performance in public housing projects as well as their commitment to craftsmanship, environmental protection, occupational health and safety, ethical integrity, partnering and customer service.
Nomination forms can be obtained at all public housing estate offices and the offices of construction and maintenance services contractors. They may also be downloaded from the HA/HD website (www.housingauthority.gov.hk).
Completed nomination forms should reach the estate offices or Procurement Section 3 of the department at 12th Floor, Block 3, 33 Fat Kwong Street, Ho Man Tin, Kowloon on or before October 5 (Friday). A prize presentation ceremony will be held in early December.
