Advance works for developments at southern part of former runway gazetted

   The Government published in the Gazette today (September 7) the proposed roadworks to enable the early developments at the southern part of the former Kai Tak Airport runway, including the New Cruise Terminal.

    The proposed works include construction of an approximately 1,700-metre long carriageway with the associated footpaths connecting Cheung Yip Street and the planned New Cruise Terminal and Runway Park; junction improvement works at Lam Fung Street, Wang Chiu Road, Sheung Yee Road and Cheung Yip Street; and other ancillary works including landscaping, water and drainage works.

     Construction work is planned to start in 2009 and is expected to be completed in 2012.

     The plans and scheme are available for public inspection at the following Government Offices during office hours:  

(i) Central and Western District Office,
    Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 5, Ground Floor, The Centre, 99 Queen's Road Central;

(ii) Kowloon City District Office,
    Public Enquiry Service Centre,Room 1707, 17th Floor, One Harbourfront,18-22 Tak Fung Street, Hung Hom;

(iii) Kwun Tong District Office,
   Public Enquiry Service Centre, Lower Ground Floor, Kwun Tong District Branch Offices Building, 6 Tung Yan Street,Kwun Tong; and

(iv) District Lands Office,Kowloon East,
   10th Floor, Yau Ma Tei Carpark Building, 250 Shanghai Street.

   Anyone who wishes to object to the proposed works should write to the office of the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 16th Floor, Murray Building, Garden Road on or before November 6, 2007.
