The Stamp Issuing Programme for 2008 and the launch of the 2008 Local Standing Order Service (LSOS) were announced today (September 6) by the Postmaster General, Mr Tam Wing-pong. Starting from January 2008 with the Year of the Rat Lunar New Year special stamps, stamp covering a wide range of topics will be issued throughout the year. The stamp designs were vetted by the Stamp Advisory Committee in a series of four meetings through 2006-07. The final choices for 2008 were selected from among 162 different stamp themes and 62 stamp designs submitted by 19 of the 72 designers on Hongkong Post's list.

Advance ordering for 2008 stamp issues will also be available through the 2008 Local Standing Order Service, with effect from Saturday (September 8). Various incentive programmes will be available for orders received from September 8 to 30.

Advance orders for the 2008 stamp issues can be placed from Saturday at any post office or through StampOnNet, Hongkong Post's handy online ordering service. Participating philatelists will enjoy some unique incentive programmes via The Early Bird Bonus Scheme, The Young Collector's Bonus Scheme and Member-Get-Member Reward Scheme, plus others. And various payment options make ordering simple and collecting easy so customers can enjoy their hobby to the fullest extent. Details are on the fact sheet at Appendix 2.
