Following is the transcript of remarks (English portion) by the Financial Secretary, Mr John C Tsang, at a media session after the Hong Kong Business Aviation Centre Hangar 2 grand opening ceremony this morning (September 3):

Reporter: What is the importance of Asian Aerospace International Expo and Congress, and opening of the Hong Kong Business Aviation Centre Hanger 2, to the aviation industry in Hong Kong?

Financial Secretary: The Expo as well as the opening of the Hong Kong Business Aviation Centre are very important to Hong Kong’s economy because what you can see is that Hong Kong is not only an exhibition and convention centre, which the expo has underlined, but it also is a way of highlighting the importance of the service sector in Hong Kong. A lot of the businesses who are exhibiting at the expo are also bringing about not just the simple fact of selling air planes  but there are a lot of associated businesses that come with it. What it does is to highlight and enhance Hong Kong’s current role as the aviation hub in the region. Now the opening of the Business Aviation Centre has added another element to that. So that is an extremely important indication of the importance of Hong Kong in the region, both in the whole commercial sector as well as the business aviation sector.
