Special Stamp Issue - "Declared Monuments in Hong Kong" (with photos)

    A special stamp issue with the theme of "Declared Monuments in Hong Kong" would be released on September 20, the Postmaster General, Mr Tam Wing-pong, announced today (September 3). Associated stamp products will also be on sale as from the same date.

     The "Declared Monuments in Hong Kong" issue comprises six stamps featuring six historical structures - Tin Hau Temple, Causeway Bay ($1.40), Old Wan Chai Post Office ($1.80), Former Central Police Station Compound ($2.40), Former Yamen Building of Kowloon Walled City ($2.50), Kun Lung Gate Tower, Lung Yeuk Tau ($3), and Tang Lung Chau Lighthouse ($5). They are the best examples to illustrate the invaluable legacy the community has inherited. This set of stamps is printed in intaglio and lithography which can best show the fine details of the monuments.

     Official First Day Covers at $1 each will be on sale at all post offices as from September 6. The stamps and the associated philatelic products will be displayed at the General Post Office and Tsim Sha Tsui, Tsuen Wan and Sha Tin Central Post Offices from September 6. Advance orders for servicing self-provided covers will be accepted at all philatelic offices from September 6 to 12.
