************************************************

The Director of Food and Environmental Hygiene has ordered a restaurant in Yuen Long to suspend business for 14 days for repeated violations of the Food Business Regulation.

The restaurant, at Shop No.1, ground floor, Ching Ying Building, Yuen Long Town Lot 296, Fook Tak Street was ordered to suspend business from today (September 1) to  September 14, a Food and Environmental Hygiene Department spokesman said.

"In August last year and May this year, there were two convictions in respect of failing to cover food properly at the said food premises.

"A total fine of $4,000 was levied and 15 points were registered against the licensee under the department's demerit points system. The contraventions resulted in the 14-day business suspension," the spokesman said.

He added that there were also two convictions of the same offence regarding the same restaurant in April last year.

"A total fine of $6,000 was levied and 15 demerit points were also registered against the licensee. The breaches led to business suspension for seven days from September 11 to 17 last year," the spokesman said.

He reminded licensees of food premises to comply strictly with the Food Business Regulation, otherwise their licences could be suspended or cancelled.
