The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Frederick Ma, will depart for Sydney next Monday (September 3) to attend the 19th Ministerial Meeting of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) to be held on September 5 and 6.
During the two-day meeting, Ministers will exchange views on measures to strengthen the multilateral trading system and to promote regional economic integration. The Ministers will also discuss issues on economic reform, APEC reform, anti-corruption, and economic and technical cooperation.
While in Sydney, Mr Ma will take the opportunity to have bilateral meetings with the Director-General of the World Trade Organization, Mr Pascal Lamy, as well as his ministerial counterparts.
Mr Ma will host a reception for business leaders from Hong Kong and prominent local interlocutors. He will also attend the APEC Business Summit and activities related to the APEC Economic Leaders¡¦ Meeting during September 6 to 8.
Mr Ma will return to Hong Kong on September 9.
