Widening of Yeung Uk Road in Tsuen Wan gazetted

    The Government published in the Gazette today (August 31) proposed widening works on Yeung Uk Road in Tsuen Wan.

     The works include widening and realignment of Yeung Uk Road between Tai Ho Road and Ma Tau Pa Road; widening and realignment of Ma Tau Pa Road plus provision of a lay-by; modification of the junction between Yeung Uk Road and Tai Ho Road and the junction between Yeung Uk Road and Ma Tau Pa Road; construction of approximately 240 metres long and 2.5-metre high vertical noise barriers along Yeung Uk Road between Wo Tik Street and Ma Tau Pa Road; temporary closure, permanent closure, and reconstruction of sections of the existing carriageways and footpaths; and conversion of sections of the existing footpaths and carriageways to refuge islands and medians; other ancillary works including landscaping, water and drainage works.

     The construction work is planned to start in September, 2008, and is expected to take about two years to complete.

     The plans and scheme are available for public inspection at the following Government Offices during office hours:  

(i) Central and Western District Office,
    Public Enquiry Service Centre, Unit 5, Ground Floor, The Centre, 99 Queen's Road Central;

(ii) Tsuen Wan District Office,
   1st Floor, Tsuen Wan Station Multi-storey Carpark Building, 174-208 Castle Peak Road, Tsuen Wan, New Territories; and

(iii) District Lands Office, Tsuen Wan and Kwai Tsing,
   10th Floor, Tsuen Wan Station Multi-storey Carpark Building, 174-208 Castle Peak Road, Tsuen Wan, New Territories.

     Anyone who wishes to object to the proposed works or the use, or both should write to the office of the Secretary for Transport and Housing, 16th Floor, Murray Building, Garden Road, on or before October 30.
