The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Ms Eva Cheng, today (August 29) visited Tin Shui Wai to see the latest provision of recreational, community and environmental facilities in public housing estates in the district.
Accompanied by the Chairman of the Housing Authority (HA)'s Commercial Properties Committee, Mr Liu Sing-cheong, Ms Cheng visited the newly opened Tung Wah Group of Hospitals Jockey Club Tin Shui Wai Integrated Services Centre in Tin Heng Estate.
The centre was formerly the sixth floor of Tin Heng Estate Carpark before it was converted by the HA into a multi-purpose integrated children and youth services centre.
Ms Cheng was glad to learn that the conversion helped fulfill the Chief Executive¡¦s commitment of providing an integrated children and youth service centre in Tin Shui Wai as stated in the 2005-06 Policy Address.
Afterwards, Ms Cheng inspected the solar panels of a photovoltaic system installed on the roof of housing blocks in Grandeur Terrace. The 136 pieces of solar modules generate electricity to supplement the electricity supply for public areas of this public rental estate.
Ms Cheng concluded her visit by meeting a single-parented family in the estate.
