25 building plans approved in July

    The Buildings Department approved 25 building plans in July - nine on Hong Kong Island, nine in Kowloon and seven in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 10 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, six were for commercial developments, three were for factory and industrial developments and six were for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on seven building projects that, when completed, will provide 380 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use, involving one unit, and 11,107 square metres of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 16 building projects.

     The department also issued 13 occupation permits - one on Hong Kong Island, three in Kowloon and nine in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor areas for domestic use were 53,233 square metres, involving 927 units, and 15,266 square metres for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of the new buildings completed in July totalled about $800 million.

     In addition, nine demolition consents involving nine building structures were issued.

     The department received 2,312 complaints against unauthorised building works in July, and issued 2,514 removal orders on unauthorised works.
