YWETS "IT Seeds" Project offers 400 training vacancies

    The "IT Seeds" Project under the Youth Work Experience and Training Scheme (YWETS) of the Labour Department will in 2007-08 offer 400 training vacancies for young people with education level of Form 5. Interested young people aged 15 to 24 can bring along documents of their educational attainment for on-the-spot application and interviews from 9am to 5pm tomorrow (August 16) and Friday (August 17) at the Pui Ching Education Centre, 42 Gascoigne Road, Kowloon.  
 
     The "IT Seeds" Project offers the following five posts:

* IT Teaching and Administrative Support Trainee (Teaching);
* IT Teaching and Administrative Support Trainee (Administrative);
* IT Teaching and Administrative Support Trainee (Technical);
* School Activities and Administrative Trainee; and
* School General Affairs and Administrative Trainee.

     The monthly salary of "IT Seeds" trainees for 2007-08 is $5,250. Apart from receiving one-year on-the-job training at the participating schools starting from September, each trainee will be released one day each week to attend a certificate course on IT skills run by the Pui Ching Education Centre free of charge. Trainees on completion of the "IT Seeds" Project may join the "E-leader" training programme of YWETS, through which they will receive further on-the-job and related classroom training with a view to better preparing them for employment or further study.

     The YWETS and the Youth Pre-employment Training Programme (YPTP) of the Labour Department provide a full range of pre-employment and on-the-job training to young people aged 15 to 24 with educational attainment below the degree level. Joint application of the two programmes is underway. Apart from receiving applications at the above venue, application forms can also be obtained from the YPTP and YWETS Offices, Job Centres of the Labour Department, the Public Enquiry Service Centres of the Home Affairs Department and the District Offices of the Social Welfare Department, relevant training bodies or the Youth Employment Services website: www.yes.labour.gov.hk.
