UK Suffolk county poultry import applications resumed
*****************************************************

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) announced today (August 13) that the processing of applications for importing poultry and poultry products from Suffolk county, United Kingdom, would resume with immediate effect.

The Centre suspended processing of applications from the Suffolk county following confirmation of an outbreak of the highly pathogenic avian influenza H5N1 on a poultry farm there in February.

"In view of the control measures taken by Suffolk county and the fact that there are no other cases of avian influenza reported, we decide to resume processing of applications from the county," a CFS spokesman said.
