To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Hong Kongˇ¦s Return to China, an art exhibition showcasing different art forms including oil, acrylic and watercolour paintings, as well as sculptures selected from the works of eight talented Hong Kong-Canadian artists is being staged this weekend at the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto.

Presented jointly by the Harbourfront Centre and the Hong Kong Economic & Trade Office (HKETO) in Canada, the works displayed at the ˇ§Hong Kong Creativity ˇV Interaction IIˇ¨ art exhibition at the Dim Sum Chinese Festival reflect Hong Kong as a kaleidoscope of diverse cultures, a sophisticated melting pot of East and West, and a fusion of the current oriental and western artistic expressions.

The eight artists taking part in the exhibition are Albert Au, Edward Chan, Harvey Chan, Wai-ming Cheung, Henry Ho, Derick Pao, Eric Wong, and Stephen Yau.

Speaking at the opening of the exhibition today (July 20, Toronto time), the Director of the HKETO, Mr Bassanio So, said: ˇ§All these eight artists have over the years contributed very much to the Canadian art scene, and their works have been greatly appreciated by different audiences in Hong Kong and Canada.

ˇ§We are pleased to see these artistsˇ¦ creativity be expressed through various media and be exposed to the mainstream Canadians.  Hong Kong is a city of diversity and our culture - a fusion of east and west - is best represented in the works exhibited at the Dim Sum Chinese Festival,ˇ¨ he added.

ˇ§Hong Kong Creativity ˇV Interaction IIˇ¨ is part of the Dim Sum Chinese Festival organized by the Harbourfront Centre.  The festival offers a dazzling array of traditional and contemporary art forms allowing people to make an in-depth examination of modern Chinese identity.  In addition to the visual art exhibition, the festival also features two films produced in Hong Kong ˇV ˇ§Running on Karmaˇ¨ directed by Johnnie Tao and ˇ§Wait 'til You're Olderˇ¨ by Teddy Chen.   Other activities in the festival include multi-disciplinary exhibitions and time-honoured Chinese art forms that mingle with modern perspectives in music, dance, visual arts, theatre and literature, in addition to fabulous Dim Sum food and culinary demonstrations.

The Dim Sum Chinese Festival is being held at the Harbourfront Centre from July 20 until July 22. Please visit http://www.harbourfrontcentre.com/wr/dimsum for detailed program information.
