Eccentric meets quirky in "Dancing Blue"
****************************************

Mui Cheuk-yin, a dance-choreographer, meets Lee Chun-chow, a theatre-man. The result is an all-dimensional, all directional crossover ¡V the dance theatre "Dancing Blue". They dance, to the blue.

"Dancing Blue" is an originally conceived, crossover production from two local artists of iconic standing - Mui Cheuk-yin of dance and Lee Chun-chow of theatre - with multi-faceted interpretations of "blue". It can be the pristine innocence that marks the beginning of life, the sedimentation of what goes on in between, as well as what finally comes to at the end. "Blue" can be the happiness and joy as symbolised by the blue bird. It can be a cruel, unremitting tune. As a colour, it can be sky blue, azure blue, dark blue, indigo blue, aqua blue, baby blue or light blue. Different types of blue transform into numerous images, forms, and constantly changing symbols and meanings.

Mui Cheuk-yin was the Principal Dancer of the Hong Kong Dance Company and has been an independent dance-maker since 1990. She is currently the Associate Choreographer of City Contemporary Dance Company. Mui has been invited to present her solo works by many international arts festivals including the Tanztheatre Wuppertal Pina Bausch 25th Anniversary Festival and the Venice Biennial Dance Festival, and to choreograph for major dance companies in Hong Kong including The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, City Contemporary Dance Company and Hong Kong Dance Company. Mui was awarded the 2000 and 2001 Hong Kong Dance Award by the Hong Kong Dance Alliance. Recent works include: "The Enigma of Desire" - "Dali vs Gala", "Whispering Colour", "Lot-us", "Bolero" (with Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra) and "My Life as a Dancer ¡V the evolution" (2007 Hong Kong Arts Festival).

Lee Chun-chow was Actor and Assistant Artistic Director of Chung Ying Theatre company. He is now a freelance actor and director. He was awarded a number of prizes in the yearly Hong Kong Drama Awards including three times as the Best Leading Actor as well as twice as the Best Director.
