"Olympic Spirit in a Harmonious Society" exhibition opens tomorrow

    The following is issued on behalf of the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education:

     An exhibition on civic education entitled "Olympic Spirit in a Harmonious Society" will be held at the Hong Kong Book Fair 2007 (Booth 5D28, Hall 5) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from tomorrow (July 18) to July 24. Members of the public are invited to visit the exhibition.

     Jointly organised by the Committee on the Promotion of Civic Education (CPCE) and the Home Affairs Bureau, the exhibition aims to promote social inclusion and integration with a view to building a harmonious society, and to promote the Olympic spirit in order to boost social coherence, encourage members of the public to actively participate in volunteer services and to take up civic responsibilities. The slogan of the activities is "Our Games We Share, Our City We Care".

     The exhibition will feature publicity material on "Harmonious Society" and "Olympic Spirit" as well as a wide range of teaching materials and publications on civic education produced by the CPCE, the Education Bureau and the Independent Commission Against Corruption. An interactive games booth will be set up and souvenirs will be given away.

     A launch ceremony of the exhibition will be held tomorrow (July 18) at 1pm on the stage of Hall 5 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, with Dr Pang King-chee, the Chairman of the CPCE; Miss Jenny Yip, Principal Assistant Secretary for Home Affairs; as well as Hong Kong athletes, Mr Chan Yun-to; Ms Amy Chan Lim-chee; Miss Jennifer Chang Ren-hui; Ms Che Kuk-hung; Ms Ho Ka-lai; and Mr Alan Ho Siu-lun, as the officiating guests.
