Immigration officers participate in attachment programmes (with photo)
**********************************************************

Two groups of Immigration Officers left for Beijing and Singapore today (July 15) for two-week attachment programmes.

The attachment programme in Beijing is a pilot scheme co-organised by the Hong Kong Immigration Department and the Bureau of Entry & Exit Authority (BEEA) in Beijing.  The programme is reciprocal with three officers from the Immigration Department attached to the Beijing Capital International Airport and three officers from the BEEA attached to the Hong Kong International Airport.

The aim of the programme is to provide participants of both sides the opportunity to learn from each other in terms of efficiency and personal capability, as well as to bring the invaluable experience into practice in their own workplace.

The other two officers who travelled to Singapore will attend the two-week attachment programme organised by the Singapore Immigration and Checkpoints Authority.  It is anticipated that the programme will provide a good opportunity for the officers to gain a better understanding of the work of other overseas immigration authorities from which they could learn and also enhance their work quality.

The Assistance Director (Management and Support) of the Immigration Department, Mr Corrado Chow, said co-operation and communication between the department and the relevant Mainland and overseas authorities were increasing.  ¡§The attachment programmes are highly desirable with a view to facilitating the exchange of knowledge and sharing of experience between our officers and worldwide counterparts,¡¨ Mr Chow said.
