Another sighting of juvenile shark in Hoi Ha
********************************************

The Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department today (July 3) strongly advised people to stop all water-based activities in Hoi Ha Wan Marine Park following the sighting of a juvenile shark in the park this afternoon.

The shark, about 3 to 4 feet long, was sighted near the Hoi Ha Wan Marine Life Centre about 4.05pm.

A department spokesman said people should refrain from swimming, diving or any other water-based activities in the park for the time being, not even in shallow water.

"Juvenile sharks are capable of swimming to shallow waters and could pose a threat to public safety," he said.

The department will continue to watch for sharks. It has informed Marine Police and the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of the latest sighting. The departments concerned will continue to work closely.

"For their own safety, people found in the water in the park will be asked by our patrol staff to leave the water immediately," the spokesman said.
