The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Frederick Ma, will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation (APEC) Meeting of Ministers Responsible for Trade on Thursday and Friday (July 5 and 6) in Cairns, Australia.
During the two-day meeting, trade ministers from APEC economies will review and assess the state of the World Trade Organization negotiations and consider what further action can be taken by APEC to bring the round to a successful conclusion.
They will also discuss issues on regional trading arrangements/free trade agreements, trade and investment liberalisation and facilitation, and trade-related human security initiatives.
Mr Ma will leave for Australia tonight (July 3) and return to Hong Kong on Friday night.
