President Hu continues busy schedule (with photos/videos)

    President Hu Jintao, who is in Hong Kong for celebratory activities to mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, this afternoon (June 30) met people from various sectors.

     He first met some 200 representatives of people from various sectors at the HK Convention and Exhibition Centre.

     President Hu said experience in the past 10 years had led to a firm belief that Hong Kong would have an even brighter future, adding that Hong Kong people had the wisdom and the ability to manage and develop the city well.

     He expressed the hope that people in Hong Kong would treasure the good situation now and unremittingly uphold the principle of ˇ§One Country, Two Systemsˇ¨ and the Basic Law, support the administration of the HKSAR Government in accordance with the law, develop the economy, improve peopleˇ¦s livelihoods and promote democracy, as well as protect the prosperity and stability in Hong Kong and work towards a harmonious society.
 
     He then met a group of Central Government officials based in Hong Kong and senior executives of Hong Kong-based Chinese enterprises.

     Later in the day, there was a dinner reception attended by 500 guests to welcome the president.

     President Hu will tonight attend a variety show to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of HKSAR.

     At 11pm, the Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National Peopleˇ¦s Congress, Mr Sheng Huaren, will officiate at a bell-ringing Buddhist ceremony at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza in Tsim Sha Tsui to pray for peace and prosperity for Hong Kong, the Mainland and the world.
