Tickets still available for admission to some museums on open days
*********************************************************

Some tickets are still available for free admission to certain Leisure and Cultural Services Department museums on Sunday and Monday (July 1 and 2).

As part of the celebrations of the 10th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong SAR, the department offered free admission to its normally fee-charging museums on July 1 and 2. The tickets have been distributed to the public through the 34 URBTIX outlets since June 24 and demand has been high.

The department announced that some free-admission tickets for the Hong Kong Heritage Museum (Splendour and Mystery of Ancient Shu: Cultural Relics from Sanxingdui and Jinsha), Hong Kong Museum of History, Dr Sun Yat-sen Museum and Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence were still available for collection from the URBTIX outlets. The tickets are available on a first-come-first-served basis and each person can get a maximum of four tickets.

Tickets for the Hong Kong Museum of Art (The Pride of China: Masterpieces of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy of the Jin, Tang, Song and Yuan Dynasties from the Palace Museum), Hong Kong Science Museum (Soaring Dinosaurs: Chinese Dinosaurs and Prehistoric Life) and the Exhibition Halls as well as the Stanley Ho Space Theatre of Hong Kong Space Museum have all been distributed.

A department spokesman said visitors to the museums on the open days had to produce valid tickets for admission at the time slot designated. Museum Pass holders would also be requested to follow the arrangement for admission which might also be regulated by sessions. The Weekly Pass is not applicable for the Museum of Art's "The Pride of China: Masterpieces of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy of the Jin, Tang, Song and Yuan Dynasties from the Palace Museum" exhibition and the Science Museum's "Soaring Dinosaurs: Chinese Dinosaurs and Prehistoric Life" exhibition on those two days.

The spokesman said that for those who could not produce valid tickets or museum passes on the open days, admission would be possible only where space of the galleries permitted.
