The following is a statement by the Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) in response to press enquiries about the Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd) submitting to the Bureau its development plan today (June 28):

An EMB spokesman said, ¡§We shall examine carefully HKIEd¡¦s future development plan. If necessary, we shall consult the University Grants Committee in due course particularly on the role of HKIEd in the future development of the higher education sector.¡¨
