Community service orders issued for assaulting public officers
******************************************************

A man was ordered by the Eastern Magistrates' Courts today (June 25) to undertake 240 hours of community service for wounding public officers and 100 hours for assaulting them.

The two community service orders will run concurrently.

Two Food and Environmental Hygiene Department officers were attacked and injured while carrying out anti-hawking operation in Aberdeen Promenade, Aberdeen Praya Road, on May 13 this year.

"Use of force against public officers is not only wrong, but also carries legal consequences," a department spokesman said.

He urged the public to co-operate with law enforcement officers in the execution of their duties.
