****************************************

The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (June 8) pursued four claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $70,000 on behalf of seven employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

At the Tribunal's hearing today, the two defendants, Ho Wai Fong & Ho Chiu Ming trading as Kin Hing Printing Press and Tat Wan Engineering Limited, did not dispute the amounts claimed. The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $38,987.52 and $24,099.64, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The other two defendants, including Style Limited trading as Ying Choi Seafood Restaurant and Heartlink Human Resources Company Limited, did not appear at today's hearing. In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $4,777.39 and $3,353, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The Tribunal further awarded $190, $126, $156 and $414 as the costs in respect of the claims.
