Town Planning Board delegation visits Osaka and Seoul

    A Town Planning Board delegation, led by the Permanent Secretary for Housing, Planning and Lands (Planning and Lands) and chairperson of the board, Mrs Rita Lau, left Hong Kong today (June 8) for a six-day visit to Osaka, Japan, and Seoul, Korea.

     The delegation will visit the Osaka City Government and meet with representatives from the Planning and Co-ordination Bureau, the Port and Harbour Bureau, the Office of Urban Revitalization and Promotion, the Urbanscape Design Department, and the Urban Renaissance Agency.  In Seoul, the delegation will visit the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Seoul Development Institute, the Digital Media City and the Cheong Gye Cheon restoration project.

     The delegation will also pay site visits to Kobe and Kyoto with an emphasis on their experiences on urban and port development and heritage conservation effort.

     "The main themes of the visit will focus on urban revitalisation, tourism, port development, development of high-tech industries, historical preservation and greening," a board spokeswoman said.

     "The delegation will return to Hong Kong from Seoul on Wednesday (June 13)."
