Response to the 2008 Beijing Olympic Equestrian Events Hong Kong Fund was encouraging, with generous support received from a number of horse owners through one of the major fund-raising activities held under the Fund -- the Donation of Prize Money by Horse Owners Programme launched in January this year, a spokesman for the Home Affairs Bureau said today (June 7).
A reception attended by more than 50 guests was held last Sunday (June 3) at the Sha Tin Racecourse to thank the horse owners for their generosity.
Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Fund Ms Elsie Leung congratulated the horse owners on their race wins and thanked them for their support by making donations out of their prize money to support the 2008 Olympic and Paralympic Equestrian Events and promote the Olympic spirit.
The programme, which will last until the end of the 2007-08 racing season, is jointly organised by the 2008 Beijing Olympic Equestrian Events Hong Kong Fund and the Hong Kong Racehorse Owners Association, and strongly supported by the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
