A Government spokesman announced today (June 5) that the Economic Development and Labour Bureau had appointed Arculli Fong & Ng with an Australian law firm specialising in competition issues, Gilbert+Tobin, to provide expert services in relation to the preparation of a competition law for Hong Kong.
"The consultant will provide expert advice on issues relating to the development of competition law, in particular with reference to regulatory frameworks in other jurisdictions," the spokesman said.
"The consultant will advise on how best to legislate for the effective implementation of Hong Kong's competition policy, including the establishment of an enforcement body and guidelines for the implementation of the law."
"The appointment of the consultant will help us to make good progress with the preparation of this complex and wide-ranging legislation," the spokesman said.
