Five Immigration Department officers have been awarded the Director's Commendation for their outstanding performances. And another 27 officers have been awarded the Assistant Directors' commendation. The presentation ceremony was held at the department's headquarters today (May 31).
Among the five officers awarded the Director's Commendation, Senior Immigration Officers of Lo Wu Section Ms Kwan Kwan-lin and Senior Immigration Officers of the Biometric Passport Section Mr Lo Tak-on, were commended for their contribution leading to the successful roll-out of the Automated Passenger Clearance System (e-channels).
A department spokesman said Ms Kwan's professionalism, devotion to the design, implementation and exceptional skill in managing the progress had led to the successful roll-out of the system at various control points ahead of schedule. Mr Lo's negotiation and co-ordination skills displayed in the site preparation work, contributing to the timely completion of the annexures to tie in with the roll-out of the system at Lok Ma Chau control point before the Chinese New Year and Easter holiday rush.
Immigration Officer Miss Jeanie Chan Lok-yee, who had successful smashed illicit illegal immigration activities at the Hong Kong International Airport, was commended for her outstanding investigative mind and dedication in the operation that subsequently led to the successful conviction and jailing of five immigration offenders.
Also awarded Director's Commendation were Immigration Officer Mr Lee Chun-yu and Senior Immigration Assistant Miss Ng Wai-ming, both from the Anti-Illegal Migration Agency. Their outstanding investigation skills solved serious cases of illegal transfer of documents and successfully led to the conviction and imprisonment of the syndicate members.
Director of Immigration Mr Lai Tung-kwok congratulated award recipients and praised them for their exemplary performances. Mr Lai said he believed that officers would continue to demonstrate their esprit de corps in the challenges ahead and strive for continued improvement in services provided to the public.
