The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (May 31) pursued two claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $90,000 on behalf of four employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.
At the hearing, the defendants, K B Industries (Hong Kong) Limited and Drain Aid Limited, did not dispute the amounts claimed. The Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA $47,285.20 and $43,390.70, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.
The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The Tribunal further awarded $236 and $176 as the costs in respect of the claims.
