Hungary poultry import applications resume

The Centre for Food Safety (CFS) announced today (May 30) that the processing of applications for importing poultry and poultry products from the Republic of Hungary would resume with immediate effect.
The Centre suspended processing of applications from the Republic of Hungary following confirmation of an outbreak of the highly pathogenic avian influenza H5 in a poultry farm in the country in January.
"In view of the control measures taken by the Republic of Hungary and the fact that there are no other cases of avian influenza reported in the country, we decide to resume processing of applications," a CFS spokesman said.
