Electors urged to vote in Kai Yip by-election tomorrow
******************************************************

Electors of the Kwun Tong District Council Kai Yip Constituency are urged to vote tomorrow (May 20) in the by-election in their constituency.

The polling station for the by-election, at Kai Yip Community Hall, Kai Yip Estate, Kwun Tong, will be open to electors from 7.30am to 10.30pm tomorrow.

The two candidates contesting the by-election are: No 1, Frederick Lam Fai; and No 2, Sze Lun Hung.

"It will take just a few minutes for people to vote," a spokesman for the Registration and Electoral Office today (March 19) said.

"All electors need to do is to show their identity cards at the polling station, and use the chop provided to stamp the ballot paper with a tick in the circle opposite the name of the candidate of their choice before putting it into the ballot box," the spokesman said.

The spokesman warned that the polling station was a restricted area accessible only to electors and authorised people.

"Unauthorised people are strictly prohibited from using mobile phones, taking photographs, filming or making video or audio recordings in the polling station," he said.

An election hotline, 2891 1001, will be in service from 7am to 11pm on polling day to answer enquiries relating to electoral matters, including the location of the polling station that electors should visit.

A complaints hotline, 2827 7251, will also operate from 7.30am to 10.30pm on polling day to handle complaints about breaches of electoral rules and guidelines.

Once the poll is closed, the polling station will be turned into a counting station, and people are welcome to watch the counting of votes.

The elected candidate will fill a vacant seat in the Kwun Tong District Council.
