Kowloon Hospital fever and upper respiratory infection cases

The spokesperson of Kowloon Hospital made the following announcement today (May 11):

     Since 7 May 2007, a total of 3  patients (2 male and 1 female, aged 5 months to 19) of a rehabilitation ward had presented with fever and upper respiratory infection symptoms.  All the patients are being isolated for treatment and in stable condition. Appropriate clinical tests are being carried out.

     Infection control measures in the ward have already been enhanced. There will be no admission to and discharge from the ward for the time being.  All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.

     The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
