The Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Rafael Hui, officiated at the opening ceremony of Hong Kong Gifts & Premium Fair 2007 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre this morning (April 28). Picture shows Mr Hui addresssing the opening ceremony. Mr Hui highlighted in his speech that the Government has earmarked $100 million over the next coming five years for the Hong Kong Design Centre to improve design standards, to foster design-related education and to raise the profile of Hong Kong as an innovation and design hub. Moreover, the Government would continue to assists companies, in particular especially small and medium enterprises, to develop their own designs and brands, through the DesignSmart Initiative, Mr Hui added.
