The Judiciary announced today (April 27) the appointment of Mrs Sharon Dawn Melloy as District Judge. Her appointment will take effect from May 2, 2007.
The appointment is made by the Chief Executive on the recommendation of the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission.
The biographical note of Mrs Sharon Dawn Melloy is as follows:
Mrs Melloy was born in England in 1963. She obtained the Theology B. A. from the Bristol University, United Kingdom in 1984 and passed the Common Professional Examination and Solicitor's Finals (City of London Polytechnic) in 1986. She was admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales in 1989 and in Hong Kong in 1990. She was in private practice from 1989 to 1993 and from 1995 to 2003, and was the Assistant Professor, School of Law of the City University of Hong Kong since 2003.
