Castle Peak Hospital upper respiratory infection cases

    The spokesperson of Castle Peak Hospital made the following announcement today (April 11):

     Six patients (aged from 30 to 62) of a female rehabilitation ward have presented with upper respiratory infection symptoms since March 26.  Test results of three patients are positive for Respiratory Syncytial Virus, while that of the remaining three are pending.  Among the six patients, four of them have been transferred to Tuen Mun Hospital for further treatment under isolation and are in stable condition, the other two have already recovered after medical treatments.

     Besides, one staff member of the ward had also presented with similar symptoms.  The staff has recovered already.

     Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been enhanced.  Admission to the ward has been suspended while all patients and staff in the ward are under close medical surveillance.

     The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
