The following is issued on behalf of the Judiciary:
The Judiciary today (April 2) announced the appointment of Mr Leung Chun-man as District Judge. His appointment will take effect from April 16.
The appointment is made by the Chief Executive on the recommendation of the Judicial Officers Recommendation Commission.
The biographical note of Mr Leung Chun-man is as follows:
Mr Leung was born in Hong Kong in 1965. He obtained LL.B and P.C.LL. from the University of Hong Kong in 1989 and 1991 respectively. He was called to the Bar in Hong Kong in 1991 and was in private practice since 1992.
