Electors reminded to cast votes in CE election tomorrow
*******************************************************

The following is issued on behalf of the Electoral Affairs Commission:

Election Committee members are reminded to cast their votes between 9am and 11am during the first round of voting in the poll for the Chief Executive election tomorrow (March 25).

"Only when no candidate obtains more than half of the valid votes cast, which means no one is elected, will there be another round of voting," a spokesman for the Electoral Affairs Commission said today (March 24).

"Election Committee members are advised to arrive early at the polling station so that they can avoid a last-minute rush," the spokesman said.

Electors will have to show their identity cards to polling staff before they are issued ballot papers.

The spokesman reassured electors on the secrecy of votes, "No record will be made of the particular ballot paper issued to electors, and no serial number will be printed on these ballot papers."

The ballot papers will be manually counted after the poll closes. The candidate who has obtained over half of the valid votes cast will be elected.

Electors are encouraged to remain at the counting station until the election result has been announced by the Returning Officer.

No one is allowed to use mobile phones or pagers, take photographs, or do filming and video or audio recording inside the polling station without permission.
