Teacher training places for 2008/09 subject to deliberation

The following is a statement from the Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) in response to media enquiries on teacher training places for the 2008/09 year.
ˇ§It is the EMBˇ¦s role to make recommendations on the overall demand for teachers in the years to come for consideration by the University Grants Committee (UGC).
ˇ§The UGC is still deliberating on teacher training places for the roll-over year of 2008/09 and will submit its recommendations to EMB in due course.ˇ¨
The spokesman reiterates that the planning work for teacher training places for the next triennium after the roll-over year of 2008/09 has yet to start.
