TD's response to request from Fairview Park residents
*****************************************************

In response to media enquiries, a Transport Department (TD)
spokesman today (March 11) said the TD understood the concern
expressed by Fairview Park residents over the use of Fairview Park Boulevard by heavy goods vehicles.

"We knew that the local people had different views over the
road use of Fairview Park Boulevard, hence, it is necessary to clarify the relevant issue," the spokesman said.

Noting that the legal proceedings between Government and
Fairview Park developers were still undergoing, the spokesman said the results of the legal proceedings would affect the traffic arrangements of Fairview Park Boulevard. The Government legal representatives and their counterpart representing the developers had applied to the court to advance the date of hearing. The court's formal reply was awaited.

Meanwhile, the TD had actively encouraged heavy goods
vehicles to enter Tai Sang Wai area via Kam Pok Road. The appeal was further enhanced with the banners erected near Fairview Park Boulevard by the San Tin Rural Committee.

The TD would continue to closely monitor the traffic situation near Fairview Park Boulevard, maintain communications with local people as well as regularly reviewing the traffic arrangements. The department also encouraged local people to find a way out in a rational, peaceful and considerate manner.
