The Annual Report on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) 2006 has been published by the Census and Statistics Department. The report provides a detailed analysis on the movements of the Composite CPI, CPI(A), CPI(B) and CPI(C) in 2006. These series of CPIs reflect the impacts of consumer price changes on households in different expenditure ranges. The report also presents charts and tables showing movements of the CPIs analysed by commodity/service section and their contributions to the overall change in the indices.
Apart from statistics on the CPIs, the report contains detailed explanations of the concepts and compilation methods of the CPIs.
The report, which is a bilingual publication in English and Chinese, is now on sale at HK$76 per issue. Users can download this report free of charge at the "Statistical Bookstore, Hong Kong" (www.statisticalbookstore.gov.hk). Print versions are available for sale online at the Statistical Bookstore of the department (www.statisticalbookstore.gov.hk) and the Government Bookstore of the Information Services Department (www.isd.gov.hk/eng/ bookorder.htm). Print versions if purchased online are offered a discount, at 85% of their original prices. For purchase of print version, this can be done through mail order by returning a completed order form which can be downloaded from the website of the Census and Statistics Department (www.censtatd.gov.hk/products_and_services/other_services/provision_of_stat/
