Fatal traffic accident in Yau Ma Tei

    Police are investigating a traffic accident in which a 53-year-old man was killed in Yau Ma Tei this morning (February 27).

     Shorty before 11.15am, a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driven by a 48-year-old man was travelling along eastbound Waterloo Road. Upon reaching near the junction with Canton Road, it reportedly knocked down the 53-year-old man who was crossing the road.

     After the accident, the 53-year-old man was certified dead at scene.

     The involved HGV left the scene after the accident and subsequently stopped by other drivers at the junction of Portland Street and Pitt Street.

     Investigations by Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Kowloon West are underway.

     Anyone who has witnessed the accident or has information to offer, especially the taxi driver who had left the scene after the incident, is urged to contact investigating officers on 2773 5258 or 2773 5220.
