Statement by Justice Woo on appointments to the Commission of Inquiry

The following is issued on behalf of the Commission of Inquiry looking into allegations relating to the Hong Kong Institute of Education:

     Statement by the Vice-President of the Court of Appeal of the High Court, Mr Justice Woo today (February 15) on the appointments to the Commission of Inquiry looking into allegations relating to the Hong Kong Institute of Education:

     "Mr Lee Jark-pui and I are pleased to accept the appointments as Chairman and Commissioner of the Commission of Inquiry.

     We are keenly aware of the community's concern over this matter and will do our utmost in discharging our duties.

     We will ensure that our investigation into the serious allegations are conducted with a high degree of transparency.

     We fully understand that the public expects us to carry out our work in an impartial and expeditious manner. We will submit our report to the Chief Executive in four months' time."
