Classical jazz oldies in "Passion for Shanghai Concert"

    "Passion for Shanghai Concert", presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, will be staged in Hong Kong next month (March).

     Renowned Shanghai jazz music performers, including National Class One performers Zheng Deren (bass) and Chen Yulin (trumpet) will play Jazz oldies at the concert. Other performers include Qiu Shanliang and Xu Weiguang (trumpet), Yin Kewu and Zhou Tongbai (saxophone), Chen Benfan and Bao Jieming (saxophone and clarinet), Tang Shenglong (drums), Wu Zongnian (trombone), Ma Qindao (guitar) and Huang Xiaoyun (piano).

     Vocalists performing at the concert are National Class One Performer Chen Haiyan and Shanghai star Ji Xiaolan.

     The concerts will present different jazz music over three days, including "In the Mood", "Trumpet Blues", "Tango La Poloma", "Honeymoon Cha Cha", "Jazznocrazy", "Rumba Melody", "Tea For Two", and "New York! New York!". Ji Xiaolan and Chen Haiyan bring you popular tunes such as "The Wandering Singsong Girl", "When Will You Return", "Rose, Rose, I Love You", "If Only We Had Met Before I Wed", and more.

     "Passion for Shanghai Concert" will be staged at 8pm, March 17 (Saturday) at Auditorium, Tsuen Wan Town Hall; March 18 (Sunday) at Theatre, Sheung Wan Civic Centre and March 19 (Monday) at Theatre, Ko Shan Theatre.  Ticket prices, ranged from $80 to $180, will be available at URBTIX outlets tomorrow (February 15). Half-price tickets are available for senior citizens, people with disabilities, full-time students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients (limited tickets for students and Comprehensive Social Security Assistance recipients available on a first-come, first-served basis). A 10% discount applies to Friends of LCSD performing venues. There will also be group booking discounts: 10% for four to nine tickets, 15% for 10 to 19 tickets, 20% for 20 tickets or more. A 10% discount applies to Friends of LCSD performing venues.

¡@¡@A free pre-concert talk, "Chinese Jazz Music" (in Cantonese and Putonghua) will be held by speaker Zheng Deren at 7.30pm on March 16 (Friday) at AC1, 4/F, Administration Building, Hong Kong Culture Centre. Limited seats are available on a first-come-first-served basis.
