Graduate artwork goes on display tomorrow

    More than 50 artworks, including sculpture, ink-painting, painting, print-making and ceramics, created by 46 graduates of the Art Specialist Course 2006-07, will go on display tomorrow (January 31).

     ¡§Art Specialist Course 2006-07 Graduation Exhibition¡¨ will run at the Hong Kong Visual Arts Centre until February 11.

     The exhibition was opened today (January 30) by five co-ordinators of the Art Specialist Course - Mr Lee Chin-fai (sculpture), Mr Leung Kui-ting (ink-painting), Mr Li Yau-mang (painting), Ms Liu Siu-jane (print-making) and Ms Yim Wai-wai (ceramics).

     The exhibition features works in a variety of media by 46 budding artists. Personal aspirations and feelings, childhood memories, impressions of arts learning and interpersonal relationships are themes of their works.

     Organised by the Art Promotion Office (APO), the Art Specialist Course aims to provide advanced and specialised training for art lovers to develop their individual artistic directions, and contribute to enriching the art and cultural terrain of Hong Kong.

     The nine-month course offered disciplines in sculpture, ink-painting, painting, print-making and ceramics. Under the mentoring of professional artists and teaching by renowned and experienced guest instructors, students were able to gain an in-depth understanding of the local art scene, consolidate their arts skills and enhance their knowledge of visual arts for future artistic pursuits.

     The intensive Art Specialist Course is conducted with the aid of class meetings, studio sessions, visits to exhibitions and artists¡¦ studios, special lectures, studio tuitions and the graduation exhibition to stimulate students¡¦ self exploration and development.
