The Leisure and Cultural Services Department today (January 16) deposited cash into the bank accounts of 157 guards of the Security Centre Limited (SCL) who are providing security services in LCSD venues. Under the co-ordination of the Labour Department, the payment was made out of the service fee paid to the company to settle arrears of wages for December, 2006, arising from the companyˇ¦s financial problems.
The LCSD has started finding a new contractor or contractors to take over the contracts from the company. Until then, the SCL will maintain its services at LCSD venues under the existing contracts. Wages accrued during the period are expected to be settled in the same way.
