Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Task Force starts work (with photos)

    The Central Government attaches great importance to the Hong KongˇVZhuhaiˇVMacao Bridge (HZMB) project. To speed up the progress of the construction of the HZMB, the State Council has decided to establish the HZMB Task Force to be led by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

     The HZMB Task Force held its first meeting today (January 9) in Guangzhou. The meeting was chaired by the head of the Task Force, and Vice Chairman of the NDRC, Mr Zhang Xiaoqiang, and attended by members of the Task Force.
 
     During the meeting, task force members were briefed by the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Advance Work Co-ordination Group, which consists of government representatives from Guangdong as well as the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, on the progress in taking forward the advance work for the construction of the bridge. The meeting also examined the key issues that had to be resolved by the Task Force and the specific steps to take to further the advance work for the bridge.

     The meeting was chaired by the head of the Task Force, and Vice Chairman of the NDRC, Mr Zhang Xiaoqiang. Other task force members who attended the meeting included Vice Minister of Communications, Mr Weng Mengyong; the Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, Mr Zhou Bo; the Executive Vice-Governor of the Guangdong Provincial People's Government, Mr Tang Bingquan; the Secretary for the Environment, Transport and Works of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Dr Sarah Liao; and the Subdirector of the Land, Public Works and Transport Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Mr Chan Hon-kit.
