The Government announced today (December 15) that the Chief Executive has appointed the Hon Henry Fan Hung-ling, SBS, JP as the Chairman of the Standing Committee on Disciplined Services Salaries and Conditions of Service (the Standing Committee) for a term of two years. The appointment will take effect on January 1, 2007.
The Chief Executive has also re-appointed five of the existing members and appointed three new members to the Standing Committee with effect from January 1, 2007.
Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, JP is re-appointed as a member and the Chairman of the ICAC Sub-Committee for a term of one year. Ms Chiang Lai-yuen and Ms Wong Mee-chun, JP are re-appointed as members and appointed as the Chairman of the Police Sub-Committee and the Chairman of the General Disciplined Services Sub-Committee respectively for a term of two years. Mr Ip Kwok-him, GBS, JP and Mr Mark Lin, JP are re-appointed as members for a term of two years.
The three newly appointed members are Mr Barry Cheung Chun-yuen, JP, Mr Robert Philip Cutler and Mr Michael Lee Tze-hau. They are all appointed for a term of two years.
The Standing Committee is currently chaired by the Hon Bernard Chan, GBS, JP. Mr Chan will retire on December 31, 2006 following six-years of excellent service since 2001. The Government is deeply indebted to his remarkable contribution to the Standing Committee.
The Government also expressed gratitude for the services of Professor Chan Yuk-shee, BBS, JP, Mr Nicky Lo Kar-chun, JP, and Mr Joseph Ho Hin-ming. They will retire on December 31, 2006 following six years' valuable contributions to the work of the Standing Committee.
The Standing Committee advises the Government on matters relating to the salaries and conditions of service of the disciplined services.
