SHA congratulates HK teams on winning medals in Asian Games

    The Secretary for Home Affairs, Dr Patrick Ho, today (December 13) extended his congratulations to the Hong Kong cycling, Wushu, fencing and squash teams to the Doha Asian Games on winning one gold, one silver and three bronze.

     While the cyclist Cheung King-wai snatched a gold medal in Men's Point Race (40km), Hei Zhi-hong got a silver in Men's Taijiquan - Two Events Combined Taijijian.

     The Hong Kong fencing team won a bronze in both Men's Team Foil and Women's Team Epee. The men's team was represented by Cheung Kai-tung, Lau Kwok-kin, Kevin Ngan and Wong Kam-kau while the women's team consisted of Yeung Chui-ling, Bjork Cheng, Sabrina Lui and Cheung Yi-nei.

     A bronze medal was also won by Mak Pui-hin in Women's Squash Singles.

     Dr Ho said: "Athletes have performed superbly. Their fortitude is also deeply impressive."

     So far the Hong Kong delegation has won six gold, 10 silver and 9 bronze in the Doha Asian Games.
