Kowloon Hospital Norovirus cases update

    Following earlier announcement on a number of patients of a psychiatric ward in Kowloon Hospital presenting with vomiting and diarrhoea symptoms, the hospital announced the following updates today ( November 28):

     The test result of one more male patient (aged 76) was confirmed positive to Norovirus. The patient was transferred to Queen Elizabeth Hospital due to fever and his own illness. He is now treated in isolation and in stable condition.  Since November 22, there are totally 13 patients and one staff member presenting with vomiting and/ or diarrhoea symptoms. Test results of six patients were found positive to Norovirus.

     Infection control measures of the ward concerned have already been enhanced. There will be no admission to and discharge from the ward for the time being.  Visiting of the isolated cubicle in the ward is also suspended. All other patients in the ward are under close surveillance.

     The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
