Four employers ordered to pay MPF non-payment

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (November 28) pursued four claims in the Small Claims Tribunal for some $110,000 on behalf of four employees, who were owed MPF contributions by their employers.

     At today¡¦s hearing, the defendant, Law Wai Leung trading as Wai Yip, did not dispute the amount claimed.  The Adjudicator ordered it to pay the MPFA $40,490.45, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The other three defendants, Pascon Industry Limited, The Tung On Plumbing Company Limited and Kin Lam Medicine Company Limited, did not appear at today¡¦s hearing.  In their absence, the Adjudicator ordered them to pay the MPFA the sums of  $43,470, $27,500 and $782.8, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees¡¦ MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA.  The court further awarded payments of $240, $160, $166 and $160 as the costs in respect of the claims.
