In response to media enquiries, the Hospital Authority (HA) spokesperson made the following announcement today (November 13):
The HA Board endorsed at its Administrative & Operational Meeting on October 26 the recommendations of implementing the settlement package for eligible doctors in relation to their claims for compensation for rest day, statutory / public holidays and overtime. The Board also agreed that late acceptance will be accepted from doctors for a further period of two weeks starting from October 26 to and including November 10, 2006.
At 5pm today, the response rate showed that of the 4,325 eligible doctors, 3,916 (90.5%) have accepted the offer. The amount involved for this group is around $440 million.
At the same time, a total of 899 eligible doctors who have left the HA also indicated their interest in receiving the settlement offer and consideration is now being given to these applications. The amount involved for this group is around $80 million.
All eligible serving doctors have already received a personalised letter confirming the compensation amount, which will be paid out at the end of this month (November) together with their monthly salary payment.
